Women’s Rights Center with NGO Anima once again organized the Third Women’s March on the occasion of International Women’s Day. This year the 8th March appeal was to call women to solidarity and included new generations of women from the different backgrounds – literature, politics, film critiques, Roma activists, sociologists and former WRC beneficiaries that were empowered and became active. We stated that women may have formal but not essential equality. There is one level of achieved rights, but based on traditional waves that keep coming, based on statements of church superiors and conservative politicians we constantly have to defend them. We sent a message that it is important to know that we need to think about this all the time and endure together and in solidarity.
Within now traditional 8th March, Women’s Rights Center organized an exhibition of artworks by Milica Šaranović and a lecture on the topic of sexual objectification in KIC “Budo Tomović” which was well attended and had a great media coverage. International Women’s Day Program included other activities – a concert of the women’s rights activist and a musician and song-writer from Belgrade – Bojana Bulatović Bo as well as lectures of our partners ANIMA.
Our activities were covered by popular TV program “Without limits”, which was broadcasted on TV Vijesti and is available on our official Youtube channel.
