Roundtable “Exercising rights to compensation for victims of violent crimes in Montenegroâ€Â
Roundtable “Exercising rights to compensation for victims of criminal acts of violence in Montenegro – Proposed amendment to the Law on compensation for victims of criminal acts of violence” organized by NGO Women’s Rights Center, within the scope of regional project Balkans Act (Against Crime of Trafficking) Now! in partnership with organizations from Serbia, B&H, Macedonia, Netherlands and Montenegro, financially supported by European Union and Swedish organization “Kvinna till Kvinna”.
Roundtable was attended by the Chief of EU Delegation to Montenegro Mitja Drobnič, president of the Supreme Court of Montenegro Vesna Medenica as well as representatives of various institutions and NGOs.
At the roundtable the following was presented:
Proposal of amendments to the Law on Compensation of Victims of Criminal Acts of Violence which predicts the establishment of the Fund for compensation to victims of criminal acts of violence
The proposed amendments were created by the Working group whose members were representatives of: Supreme Court of Montenegro, High Court in Podgorica, Office for Fight Against Trafficking in Human Beings, Supreme State Prosecutor's Office and NGO Women’s Rights Center.
Feasibility study for the establishment of Fund for compensation to victims of criminal acts of violence which contains the analysis of possible financing sources for the Fund, which do not require allocation from the state budget.
