The aim of the project is to encourage the development of innovative social and child protection services at the state and local level, in order to support women who suffered partner violence faced with problems in contact with children.
The target groups of the project are:
- Women and children with experience of violence – This target group will be directly involved in the project through the use of services designed to empower them and support them in acquiring skills. The goal is to help them cope with the experience, to raise awareness and strengthen their own and their parental’ capacities through work in self-support groups, experiential counseling, as well as intensive communication with the organizations involved in the project.
- Non-governmental organizations working in the field of support for women and children with experience of violence – Strengthening the capacity of these organizations by providing trainings on domestic violence and trainings to develop skills needed for working with victims of violence. Participants will have the opportunity to improve the level of knowledge and information and develop the skills needed to implement the necessary psycho-social support services.
The final beneficiaries of the project are institutions, non-governmental organizations working in the field of protection of women and children with experience of violence. Also, the beneficiaries of the project are support services, centers for social work, partner organizations and media with which WRC cooperates.
Encouraging people who have experienced violence and other citizens to provide support and respond adequately when faced with or witnessing violence leads to improved respect for the principles of non-violence and equality in society.
Project activities include:
- Accredited trainings on domestic violence and its consequences for child witnesses and parental capacities of a non-violent parent;
- Training aimed at developing necessary skills to work with victims of violence;
- Self-support groups of people who experienced partner violence, faced with problems related to contact with children;
- Individual consultation of beneficiaries with experts with relevant experience in this field.
